  • Constable David Murphy is the Smiths Falls Police Community Service Officer or CSO. The goal of our CSO is to strive to further the Smiths Falls Police Service motto of Community First and as such is an integral part in providing top notch community policing.

    Here are a few of the functions and services Constable Murphy provides in his role as CSO:
    • Liaison between the community and the police service.
    • Interacts with citizens, neighbourhoods, community organizations, businesses and schools.
    • Provides educational information, presentations, and crime prevention initiatives.
    • Attends community events and organize police and community functions.

    • Mobility Scooters
      Mobility scooters can provide you with a new sense of freedom in the community. Whether you're out exploring your neighbourhood parks, shopping downtown or traveling to an appointment, your scooter can provide you with the ability to travel independently. However, traveling on the sidewalks and roadways does not come without some risk. To help minimize the dangers, here our some safety tips you should follow. Read More.


    • Theft or Damage to Signs
      Every year their is a problem with theft and/or damage to signs both on the highway and on the trails. These signs are put in place for a reason. If a person removes/steals or defaces any sign it could have serious consequences. The person who steals the sign could face criminal charges of theft or more serious charges including criminal negligence. Read More.


    • Approaching Emergency Vehicles
      The Ontario Government enacted Section 159 (2) of the Highway Traffic Act to protect not only the police officer conducting a traffic stop but to protect the persons in and around the vehicle being stopped by the police. Read More.

      Cellular telephones have quickly become a leading cause of car crashes. During the Month of October Smiths Falls Police will be targeting drivers using their cell phones and other devices while driving. Read More.
