Criminal Records Check
As of November 1st, 2010 the Smiths Falls Police Service will provide Criminal Records checks or Vulnerable Sector Screening only for citizens
who reside within the Town of Smiths Falls. A Vulnerable Sector screening check is generally for anyone who volunteers, works with/for, or is in
a position of trust with children, elderly or handicap persons.
For residents of Smiths Falls you can request a Vulnerable Sector Screening or Criminal Records check by doing the following:
- Print out and complete a Criminal Record Check.
- Attend the Smiths Falls Police station to submit your forms.
- Pay the $27.00 fee. Required if the check is for employment purposes. For volunteers the fee may be waived if you have a letter from the agency
indicating that you will be a volunteer.
- Two pieces of identification are required, one must be a photo ID.
Please Note:
- We cannot do a Vulnerable Sector screening for anyone working and/or living outside of Canada. A standard Criminal Record check may be obtained.
- We cannot do a Vulnerable Sector screening for adopting parents as per Sec 6(3) of the Criminals Records Act. We can obtain and send your
fingerprints to the RCMP for which there is $25.00 fee.
If you are not a resident of Smiths Falls you may obtain records checks as follows:
- South Elmsley Twp - Rideau Lakes OPP Detachment
- Elizabeth-Kitley Twp - Leeds County OPP Detachment in Brockville
- Montague or North Elmsley Twp - Lanark County OPP Detachment in Perth
- Beckwith Twp - Carleton Place OPP Detachment
