    Our Services - Foot Patrol

    Foot patrol has been recognized as one of the defining factors of community policing. By removing the barrier made by the police car, the officers become more accessible to members of the community.

    All year round, members of the Smiths Falls Police Service actively patrol the town's tourist areas, shopping malls, school yards, and downtown streets. Foot patrol allows the officers to interact with members of the community in a manner which is inconceivable through mobile patrol. In addition, foot patrol is a more proactive style of policing, allowing the officers to respond to community problems before they become crimes. So, next time you see an officer on the street, feel free to stop and talk for a while!
