- Bike Helmet and Cycling Safety Program
This summer the Smiths Falls Police Service, Crime Stoppers and Canadian Tire initiated a cycling safety program. Over 150
children were stopped and checked by police during the summer months to ensure they were in complaince with the law, wearing helmest and following
safe cycling practices.
Their were 10 weekly draws for $25 and grand prize draw of a bicycle (valued at $450) donated by Candain Tire.The grand prize was awarded on
August 26, 2010 to a 12 year old Smiths Falls boy from Empress Avenue.

Smiths Falls Police would like to remind young drivers (21 years and under) that as of August 1, 2010 you must have Zero Blood Alcohol
Concentration while operating a motor vehicle in Ontario. For more details and information on the penalties if caught with above Zero BAC see

Ministry of Transportation of Ontario website.

To further our objective of improving public safety on our roadways, Smiths Falls Police has invested in a Speed Laser.
This speed measuring device provides extremely fast and accurate readings of a target vehicles speed from thousands of feet away.
