  • Our Services - Mobile Patrol

While mobile patrol is a less proactive style of policing, it is a vital tool in any policing organization. Mobile patrol allows officers to efficiently cover large areas of land in very short periods of time. The biggest advantage of mobile patrol is that it allows rapid response to emergency calls. Emergency assistance is only minutes away when officers are engaged in mobile patrol.

Every hour of every day, members of the Smiths Falls Police Service are patrolling the streets in five fully marked police cruisers. The territory covered by the Smiths Falls Police Service extends to the town population signs at each highway entering the city.

Smiths Falls Police Service 4x4 Truck

This 4x4 truck was added to our fleet to ensure officers are able to respond quickly and safely to emergency calls during inclement weather and road conditions. Besides general patrol the truck can also be used as a multi-purpose vehicle for tasks such as executing search warrants and retrieving property.

The truck has been equipped with and extensive lights and siren setup for Officer and public safety.

    On Board Video

In July 2009 Attorney General Chris Bentley visited Smiths Falls to announce a grant of $43740 for Smiths Falls Police Service. The funds were obtained through the Civil Remedies Program and have been used to outfit all front line Cruisers of Smiths Falls Police with Audio Visual Equipment.

The cameras help officers gather evidence for a wide variety of crimes, including aggressive driving and impaired driving.

Under the Civil Remedies Act, the Attorney General can use forfeited proceeds of crime to provide grants to police services.
