Mother and son arrested for possessing counterfeit money

On Friday June 24, 2022, at approximately 10:08 a.m., after an ongoing investigation, police located and arrested 48-year-old, Wanetta GENEROUX of Lanark, Ontario, and her son, 29-year-old, Joel CLOSS for being in possession of counterfeit money.  Police later executed a search warrant at a Center Street address and successfully recovered additional counterfeit funds, all in US denominations.

GENEROUX stands charged with the following:  Possession of Counterfeit Money (jointly) and Possession of Counterfeit Money.

CLOSS stands charged with the following:  Possession of Counterfeit Money (jointly), Possession of Counterfeit Money and one count of Failing to comply with Probation Order.

Both were held for a bail hearing to answer to these outstanding charges against them.

Male arrested for theft related and driving offences

On Sunday June 26, 2022 at approximately 12:14 p.m., police located a vehicle and driver in a Lombard Street business parking lot, from a previous gasoline drive off investigation.  Police interacted with the driver, 36-year-old, Michael FERGUS of Perth, Ontario.  During this interaction, police instructed FERGUS to stop his vehicle and park.  FERGUS proceeded to flee the area in an unsafe manner and travelled southbound onto Lombard Street. 

FERGUS was located and subsequently placed under arrest a short time later by police. 

FERGUS was held for a bail hearing and stands charged with the following:  Theft Under $5000.00, Flight from Police, Resist Peace Officer, Dangerous Operation, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.00 x2.

Female arrested for intimate partner violence

On Monday June 27, 2022, at approximately 7:13 p.m., police received a call to attend an Elm Street West residence, for a report of a male victim being struck by his female partner.  Investigation revealed, that a 59-year-old, female suspect, of Smiths Falls, had engaged in a verbal argument and in anger, struck the victim.  The victim did not suffer any injuries as a result. 

The suspect stands charged with one count of Spousal Assault and was later released by way of an Undertaking with conditions and will appear in court at a future court date to answer to this charge.

The Smiths Falls Police Service are looking to identify the two individuals pictured above, after receiving a complaint of mischief to the Murphy Building in Centennial Park. It is believed that the damages occurred sometime over the weekend (June 11/12th).

Female arrested for uttering a threat

On Saturday June 11, 2022, at approximately 7:23 p.m., police received a call to attend a Brockville Street business for a report of a threat being made.  Investigation revealed that a 67-year-old female suspect, of Smiths Falls, had uttered a threat to burn property of her previous partner after engaging in a verbal argument. 

The suspect was placed under arrest, is charged with one count of uttering threats and was later released by way of an undertaking with conditions to answer to this charge.

Fail to remain accident results in arrest

On Saturday June 11, 2022, at approximately 9:44 p.m., police received a call to attend William Street East, for a report of a vehicle that had struck an unoccupied vehicle and fled the scene.  Police attended and located the vehicle and driver a short time later.  Investigation revealed that the driver, 38-year-old, Andrew MALONEY, of Smiths Falls was impaired by alcohol. 

MALONEY is charged with Operation while impaired (Over 80), had his vehicle impounded for 7 days, drivers licence suspended for 90 days and will appear in court at a future court date to answer to this charge.

Multiple arrests after execution of drug warrant

On Friday June 3, 2022, at approximately 6:15 p.m., members of the Smiths Falls Police Service, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA) Search Warrant at a Lombard Street address.  As a result, four suspects were arrested, a quantity of drugs, cash, ammunition and weapon were located and seized.

Jason FARR – 50-years-old, of no fixed address:

– Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine) – Jointly

– Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (Cocaine) – Jointly

– Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of Trafficking (Crack Cocaine) – Jointly

– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.00 – Jointly

– Possession of a Firearm or Ammunitions Contrary to Prohibition Order x2

– Breach of Undertaking (possession of non-prescribed drugs)

Jessica LEPINE – 31-years-old, of Smiths Falls:

Male arrested for outstanding warrant

On Wednesday May 25, 2022, at approximately 10:23 a.m., police located and arrested a 37-year-old male suspect, of Smiths Falls, for an outstanding warrant for his arrest.  The warrant was issued stemming from a May 19, 2022 incident in where the suspect was found to be in breach of his court ordered release conditions from a previous intimate partner violence offence. 

The suspect stands charged with breaching his court ordered release order x2, Criminal Harassment and was held for a bail hearing to answer to this charge.

Male arrested for outstanding warrant

On Wednesday May 25, 2022, police located and arrested a 25-year-old male suspect of Parham, Ontario for an outstanding warrant stemming from a June 2021 incident.  The suspect stands charged with breaching his release order conditions x4 and was held for a bail hearing.   

Traffic leads to arrest

On Thursday May 26, 2022, at approximately 1:47 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Abbott Street North after receiving an alert on the Automatic Licence Plate Reader (ALPR) for a highway traffic offence.  Investigation revealed that 39-year-old driver, Michael VALENCIA was a suspended driver was in possession of a controlled substance. 

VALENCIA was arrested and stands charged with one count of possession of a Schedule 1 substance and had his vehicle impounded for a period of 7 days.  He was later released by way of a Form 10 release Undertaking with conditions to answer to this charge.

Male arrested for outstanding warrant

On Monday May 30, 2022, at approximately 7:41 a.m., police located and arrested a 30-year-old suspect, of Smiths Falls, for an outstanding warrant for his arrest.  The warrant was issued stemming from a September 2021 incident in where the suspect did not attend for his court appearance.  The suspect was also found to be in breach of two additional breaches of his court ordered release conditions.

The suspect was held for a bail hearing to answer to these outstanding charges.

Male arrested for theft and drug offence

On Monday May 30, 2022, at approximately 9:54 a.m., police located and arrested 24-year-old, Jeffrey HAMILTON, of no fixed address for a shoplifting incident at a Lombard Street business that occurred on May 27, 2022.  Investigation revealed that HAMILTON was in possession of a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance and in breach of his court ordered release conditions. 

HAMILTON stands charged with the following:  Theft Under $5000.00, Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance and two counts of breaching his court ordered release conditions. 

HAMILTON was held for a bail hearing to answer to these outstanding charges.

Male arrested for outstanding warrant

On Tuesday May 31, 2022, at approximately 11:43 a.m., police located and arrested a 67-year-old male suspect, of Smiths Falls, for an outstanding warrant for his arrest.  The warrant was issued stemming from a previous intimate partner violence incident and failing to comply with his court ordered release conditions.

The suspect was held for a bail hearing to answer to these charges.

Neighbour dispute leads to arrest

On Tuesday May 31, 2022, at approximately 11:33 p.m., police responded to a neighbour dispute at a McGill Street South residence.  Investigation revealed that a 65-year-old, male suspect of Smiths Falls, had uttered a threat to his neighbour.

The suspect was placed under arrest and is charged with Uttering a Threat and was later released by police by way of a Form 10 Undertaking with conditions to answer to this charge.
