Female arrested for theft

On Monday December 4, 2022, police located and arrested a 26-year-old female suspect, of Clayton, Ontario, from a previously reported theft from a family member’s residence in June 2022. 

The suspect was later released by way of an undertaking with conditions and will appear in court at a future date to answer to this charge.

Male arrested for Intimate Partner Violence (IPV)

On Tuesday December 6, 2022, at approximately 4:33 p.m., police were called to attend a Beckwith Street North residence for a report of an Intimate Partner Violence incident that occurred on the previous date.  Investigation revealed that a 52-year-old suspect of Smiths Falls, had become upset with his common law partner and engaged in an argument with her.  During the argument the suspect assaulted and choked the female victim.  The suspect was also found to be in breach of a probation order release condition.

Police located and arrested the suspect in the residence and is charged with the following:  Assault, Overcoming resistance (IPV related) and Failing to comply with Probation order.

The suspect was held for a bail hearing to answer to these charges.

Male arrested for Intimate Partner Violence (IPV)

On Tuesday December 6, 2022, at approximately 10:21 p.m., police located and arrested a 38-year-old male suspect, of Delta for Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) offences.  Investigation revealed that the suspect had assaulted his previous common law partner during an November 27, 2022 argument at the victim’s residence.  Further investigation revealed that the suspect had also assaulted the victim on several other previous occasions.

As a result the suspect is charged with three counts of Assault (IPV related) and was held for a bail hearing to answer to these charges.

Male and female arrested for drug related offences  

On Saturday December 10, 2022, at approximately 10:45 p.m., police observed a male driver and female passenger with their heads slumped down inside a running parked vehicle on Aberdeen Avenue.  Concerned for the occupants wellbeing, police conducted a check on both.  Police were able to wake both and investigation revealed that both the male and female suspects were under the influence of an illicit substance and in plain view were several small clear plastic baggies that contained a white powdery substance. 

The male suspect was identified as 33-year-old, Robert THOMSON of Smiths Falls and he stands charged with the following:  Operation while impaired by drug, Refusal to comply with demand and two counts of Possession of a controlled Schedule I substance.  THOMSON was held for a bail hearing to answer to these outstanding charges.

The 44-year-old female suspect of Smiths Falls, stands charged with two counts of Possession of a controlled Schedule I substance and was later released by way of an Undertaking with conditions and will appear in court at a future court date to answer to these charges.   

 Male arrested for breaching release condition

On Sunday December 18, 2022, at approximately 10:20 p.m., police located and arrested a 25-year-old male suspect, of Smiths Falls, for breaching his court ordered release condition, stemming from an August 2022, Intimate Partner Violence related incident.  Police attended the suspect’s residence on Saturday December 17, 2022, to ensure he was in compliance with his court ordered release order and found that he was not.

The suspect is charged with Failing to comply with his release order and was held for a bail hearing to answer to this charge.

Male arrested for weapons and drug related offences

On Tuesday December 20, 2022, at approximately 11:00 a.m., police responded to a suspicious vehicle on Gilroy Street.  Investigation revealed that the 39-year-old male driver, Johathon RILEY, of Smiths Falls, had an outstanding warrant for Dangerous Operation of a conveyance.  RILEY was placed under arrest and subsequent to a search of his person and vehicle he was sitting in, revealed that he was also in the possession of a controlled Schedule I substance and a prohibited weapon. 

RILEY stands charged with the following:  Dangerous Operation of a conveyance, possession of a Schedule I Substance, Carrying a concealed weapon, Possession of a prohibited device and Possession of a prohibited weapon. 

RILEY was held for a bail hearing to answer to these outstanding charges.

Male arrested for Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) offences

On Sunday November 13, 2022 at approximately 1 p.m., police located and arrested a 32-year-old male suspect from the Ottawa area, for several Intimate Partner Violence offences stemming from an incident reported to police on November 11, 2022.  Investigation revealed that the suspect had caused damage on several occasions over the past year to the victim’s property, assaulted her and prevented her from leaving their residence. 

As a result, that suspect is charge with the following:  Mischief Under $5000.00 x 3, Assault (IPV related) and Forcible Confinement. 

The suspect was held for a bail hearing to answer to these charges.

Youth arrested for breaching release condition

On Monday November 21, 2022, at approximately 7:16 p.m., police received a call to attend the area of Sussex Avenue, for a report of a male youth that was breaching his release conditions.  Investigation revealed that the 15-year-old male youth was in contravention of a release condition by being within 100 meters of a residence on Sussex Avenue. 

The youth was later located, placed under arrest and later released by way of an Undertaking with a future court date.

Youth arrested for Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) offences

On Monday November 21, 2022, at approximately 7:34 p.m., police were called to a Pearl Street apartment complex for a report of a male youth who was intoxicated in a common area.  Police attended and heard a male and female engaged in an intense argument inside one of the apartments.  Police observed the male suspect attempting to flee the apartment and observed him assault his female partner.   

Police subsequently placed the suspect under arrest and he stands charged with the following offences:  Assault (IPV related) and Fail to comply with release order x2. 

The suspect was held for a bail hearing to answer to these charges.

Male arrested for Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) offences

On Saturday November 26, 2022, at approximately 10:56 p.m., police were called to attend a River Street residence for a report of an intimate partner offence.  Investigation revealed that a 29-year-old male suspect, of Perth, had assaulted his female partner and caused damage to the residence prior to police attending.

Police subsequently placed the suspect under arrest and he stands charged with the following offences:  Assault (IPV related) and Mischief Under $5000.00.

The suspect was held for a bail hearing to answer to these charges.

Male arrested for break and enter 

On Sunday November 27, 2022, at approximately 10:28 p.m., police received a call to attend an Elmsley Street South commercial building for a report of a break and enter in progress.  Police attended the area and located 60-year-old, Howard DICKSON, of Smiths Falls, inside the building. 

DICKSON was placed under arrest for break and enter and was held for a bail hearing to answer to this charge.

Female arrested for Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) offences

On Monday November 28, 2022, at approximately 8:02 p.m., police received a 9-1-1 call to attend an Empress Avenue residence for a report of an Intimate Partner assault.  Police attended the residence and investigation revealed that the 25-year-old, female suspect had assaulted her common law partner on this date and on several prior occasions. 

The suspect was subsequently placed under arrest and stands charged with the following offences:  Assault x3 (IPV related) and Failing to comply with her probation order release condition. 

The suspect was held for a bail hearing to answer to these outstanding charges. 

Disturbance call leads to arrest

On Wednesday November 30, 2022, at approximately 10:11 a.m., police received a call to attend the area of Parkland Court for a report of a male suspect causing a disturbance.  Police attended and investigation revealed that the 38-year-old, male suspect, of Smiths Falls, upset with a nearby resident caused damage to a vehicle and refused to leave the area when directed. 

The suspect was placed under arrest, is charged with Mischief Under $5000.00, Causing a Disturbance and Breaching a condition of his probation release order. 

The suspect was later released by way of an Undertaking and will appear in court at a future date to answer to these outstanding charges. 

Disturbance call leads to numerous charges

On Wednesday November 30, 2022, at approximately 2:08 p.m., police located and arrested 36-year-old, Joshua MCNEIL, of Smiths Falls, stemming from a November 2, 2022, disturbance incident in the area of Brockville Street. 

Investigation revealed that the suspect, on that date had engaged into a verbal and then physical altercation with three male victims and a female victim.  During this altercation the suspect put his vehicle in reverse and struck the three males and then proceeded to drive forward striking the female victim and a parked vehicle.  The suspect then fled the scene and failed to remain nor did he offer assistance. 

As a result, the MCNEIL stands charged with the following offences:  Operation while prohibited, Dangerous operation, Failing to stop after accident x2 and Assault with a weapon x4.

MCNEIL was held for a bail hearing to answer to these outstanding charges.
