Male arrested for breaching probation conditions
On Tuesday January 3, 2023, at approximately 7:58 a.m., police received a call in regards to a male suspect who was in breach of his Intimate Partner Violence Probation Order release conditions. Investigation revealed that a 21-year-old male suspect, of Smiths Falls, had attended the victim’s residence and engaged in a verbal argument while on conditions to have no contact or be within 150 meters of the victim’s residence.
Police located and arrested the suspect a short time later. He stands charged with two counts of breaching his probation order release conditions and was held for a bail hearing to answer to these charges.
Road rage incident leads to drug and firearm charges
On Tuesday January 3, 2023, at approximately 1:05 p.m., police observed two male drivers engaged in a heated confrontation with one another on McGill Street North. During the altercation, one of the male driver’s was observed with what appeared to be a handgun.
Police conducted stops on both vehicles and investigation revealed that both drivers and occupants had a quantity of controlled substances on their person or accessible inside the vehicle and several other weapons inside one of the involved vehicles.
The handgun was safely recovered and found to be an imitation firearm.
Police conducted traffic stops on both vehicles and as a result, police arrested and charged the following:
- Christopher CURRAN – 35-years old, of Smiths Falls: Possession for the purpose of Trafficking a Schedule 1 Substance (Cocaine), Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (Cocaine), Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (jointly), Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00, Carrying a concealed weapon, Utter threats to cause bodily harm and Assault Police
- Robert CORRIGAN – 44-years old, of Smiths Falls: Possession for the purpose of Trafficking a Schedule 1 Substance (Cocaine), Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (Cocaine) and Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (jointly)
- Kitzy HUME – 43-years old, of Smiths Falls: Possession for the purpose of Trafficking a Schedule 1 Substance (Cocaine), Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (Cocaine) and Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (jointly)
- Dylan DZIADYK – 26-years old, of Ottawa: Possession of Methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Schedule 1 substance (Cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking, Possession of a Schedule 1 substance (Cocaine) and Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00
All involved suspects were held for bail hearings to answer to these charges.
Male arrested for breaching release condition
On Friday January 6, 2023, police conducted a compliance check on a male who had been released by the court as a result of a bail hearing. One of the conditions imposed on the suspect, with a condition to be on house arrest with strict exceptions. Investigation revealed that the 39-year-old suspect, of Smiths Falls, was not home in accordance to his release condition.
Police located and arrested the suspect on Sunday January 8, 2023, and he is charged with one count of breaching the court ordered undertaking release condition. The suspect was held for another bail hearing to answer to this charge.
