Female arrested for domestic assault
On Thursday June 3, 2021 at approximately 7:05 p.m., police responded to a domestic disturbance on Beckwith Street South. Investigation revealed that a 22 year old female suspect, of Smiths Falls, had assaulted her male partner.
The suspect was subsequently placed under arrest and stands charged with one count of domestic assault. The suspect was later released by way of an Undertaking with conditions and will appear in court at a future date to answer to this charge.
Male arrested for refusing to provide breath sample
On Tuesday June 8, 2021 at approximately 2:57 p.m., police were called to attend a business on William Street West for a report of a suspected impaired driver. Police located the suspect and investigation revealed that, 35 year old Spencer COURNEYA, of Toronto, Ontario, was under the influence of an intoxicating substance. Police demanded a suitable sample of his breath be provided into an approved screening device and he refused.
As a result COURNEYA had his driver’s licence suspended for a period of 90 days, vehicle impounded and stands charged with Refusing to provide with breath demand. COURNEYA was issued an Appearance Notice and will appear in court at a future date to answer to this charge.
Male arrested for domestic offences
On Wednesday June 9, 2021 at approximately 10:35 p.m., police responded to a Smiths Falls Avenue residence for a report of a domestic assault. Investigation revealed that a 36 year old male suspect had assaulted his female partner and threw a cup at her inside the residence causing minor injuries. Police located and arrested the suspect a short time later.
As a result, the suspect is charged with one count of domestic assault and assault with a weapon. The suspect was held for a bail hearing to answer to these outstanding charges.
