CDSA drug warrant executed

On Friday the 22nd of October 2021 Smiths Falls Police, Ottawa Police Guns and Gang unit and OPP CSCU team executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrant at a residence on Elmsley St. During the five month long investigation by Ottawa Guns and Gangs they linked this Smiths Falls address as one having connection to drug trafficking that stemmed from the Ottawa area.  

Charged jointly with the following;

Possession for the Purpose of trafficking and possession (fentanyl), possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession  (Cocaine), Possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession (hydromorphone), possession for the purpose of trafficking Schedule 3 and possession (methylphenidate), possession of a prohibited weapon (pepper spray), breach of a court order and breach of probation. Police also laid charges of possession of property obtained by crime after locating a boat motor in the residence that had been reported stolen from a business in the Smiths Falls area Oct 11th. The boat and trailer had been recovered but the motor had not. It was valued at over $12,000.

Joseph James (JJ) Bancroft (age 44) of Smiths Falls and Katelyn Beckstead (age 27) were charged with all the above mentioned offences. They were both later released at a bail hearing on conditions to abide by.

Male charged with breaching his release order

On the 14th of October 2021 the accused before the courts, John Perry (age 49) of Smiths Falls was released after a bail hearing to abide by conditions to reside in Gatineau. He never showed. Police arrested the male on the 24th of October 2021 after receiving a complaint that he was at a friends’ residence causing damage to the front windows.    

Charged with 3 counts of failing to comply with release order, mischief damaging property is 49 year old John Perry. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
