Male arrested for breaching release conditions

On Tuesday November 16, 2021, at approximately 12:27 p.m., police responded to a Chambers Street residence for a possible domestic disturbance in progress.  Police located a 28-year-old male suspect hiding inside the residence.  The suspect was found to be on a Judges release order with conditions to have no communication or be within 200 meters of the female resident stemming from a previous domestic related incident. 

The suspect was placed under arrest, stands charged with 2 counts of breaching his Judges release order and held for a bail hearing to answer to these charges.

Male arrested for Exceed 80 and breaching release condition

On Thursday November 18, 2021, at approximately 3:37 p.m., police were alerted by a concerned member of the public on Chambers Street, in regards to male sitting inside a vehicle suspected to be consuming alcohol. 

Investigation revealed that 36-year-old, Henry VERHOEVEN, of Smiths Falls, was consuming and under the influence of alcohol while having care and control of his motor vehicle.  VERHOEVEN was subsequently placed under arrest and provided samples of his breath to a qualified breath technician, resulting in having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. 

VERHOEVEN additionally stands charged with a breaching a release order condition stemming from a previous alcohol driving related offence in 2020, had his driver licence suspended for a period of 90 days and vehicle impounded as a result.   

VERHOEVEN was later released by way of a Promise to Appear and will appear in court at a future court date.

Male arrested for breaching release condition

On Friday November 19, 2021, at approximately 7:33 a.m., police received a call to attend the area of James Street, for a report of a male breaching his court ordered release condition.  Investigation revealed that a 63-year-old male, of no fixed address, was found to be in breach of his release condition by being in the Town of Smiths Falls for an unauthorized purpose. 

The suspect was located a short time later, arrested and released by way of a Promise to Appear and will appear in court at a future court date to answer to this charge.
