Neighbour dispute leads to arrests

On Saturday January 15, 2022 at approximately 2:12 p.m., police received a 9-1-1 call to attend a residence on Empress Avenue for a report of an assault.  Investigation revealed that a 24-year-old female suspect had engaged in a verbal argument with the victim outside of their residences.  The victim entered her residence and the suspect entered behind without permission, assaulted and uttered threats. 

The suspect was located a short time later, arrested and stands charged with the following:  Unlawfully in a Dwelling House, Assault, Utter Threats to cause Bodily Harm and one count of breach of Probation release condition. 

The suspect was later released by way of an Undertaking and will appear in court at a future court date to answer to these charges.

Male arrested for break and enter into business

On Saturday January 15, 2022 at approximately 1:23 a.m., police responded to an Abbott Street business for an alarm call.  Investigation revealed that 33-year-old Tyler PRETTY, of Smiths Falls, entered the business property and removed several products without lawful authority. 

PRETTY was located and arrested on Tuesday January 18, 2022 and stands charged with the following:  Break and Enter, Theft Under $5000.00 and Fail to comply with Probation Order. 

PRETTY was held for a bail hearing to answer to these outstanding charges.
